Verve Records ogłasza dziś premierę specjalnie opracowanej kolekcji Verve Records: The Sound Of America, przygotowanej z okazji 70-lecia wytwórni oraz w ramach trwającej kampanii Verve 70.

Założyciel wytwórni, Norman Granz, działający jako niezależny producent fonograficzny od początku lat 40. XX wieku, budował swoją sieć firm fonograficznych oraz katalog nagrań stopniowo – płyta po płycie i artysta po artyście. Do momentu sprzedaży wytwórni pod koniec 1960 roku zgromadził imponującą kolekcję nagrań, która do dziś pozostaje osiągnięciem bez precedensu.

Współprodukowana przez biografa Normana Granza, Tada Hershorna, edycja 4 LP / 2 CD celebruje niezwykłą różnorodność nagrań powstałych w złotej erze Verve Records pod jego kierownictwem. W zestawie znalazły się m.in. utwory Elli Fitzgerald i Billie Holiday, nagrania Charliego Parkera z orkiestrą smyczkową, poezja beatników w wykonaniu Jacka Kerouaca oraz klasyczne występy stand-upowe.

To wyjątkowe wydawnictwo dołącza do serii premier i wznowień przygotowanych w ramach obchodów Verve 70, a także poprzedza jubileuszowy koncert wytwórni, który odbędzie się 2 września na SummerStage w Central Parku. Na scenie wystąpią artyści reprezentujący „nową klasę Verve”, w tym Samara Joy, Liana Flores, aron! i Sparklmami, a także goście specjalni: Christian McBride i Mei Semones.
